Needlefelting is a very old technique, that has recently become quite popular again. The felting needle is a long barbed needle, that felts wool by being pushed into it. Sounds simple, but it takes thousands of these pokes to go from a wad of carded wool to sculpted piece of art. The more a piece of wool is poked with a felting needle, the more the fibers felt denser and denser, until you have a solid piece of work.
